Summary: While the Hakka have cultural differences from Han Chinese, they are still considered Chinese. The Hakka people are most numerous in Taiwan and southern China's Guangdong Province, but many also live in Malaysia and Hong Kong. They have their own cuisine, architecture and dress. Their spiritual beliefs are very similar to other Han Chinese groups. At one time there were Hakka villages in Hong Kong, but that part of the world is becoming increasingly urban. Hakka people in Hong Kong must either leave or adapt to the urban environment.
Obstacles: The Hakka people are not as open to the claims of Christ as most of their neighbors.
How reach: The JESUS Film is available in their dialect. There is a complete Bible for them and online "talking" Bibles are available to the Hakka people. A sizable number of Hakka believers live in Malaysia. In Hong Kong and nearby Guangdong Province, there are many followers of Christ who can reach out to the Hakka population.

Summary: By the middle of the seventh century, Arab and Persian traders and merchants traveled to China in search of riches. In addition, in the thirteenth century the Mongols turned people into mobile armies during their Central Asian conquests and sent them to China. These civilians were expected to settle down at various locations to farm while maintaining combat readiness. As artisans, scholars, officials, and religious leaders, Hui Muslims spread throughout China, and some wound up in Hong Kong. However, most of the Hui Muslims in Hong Kong arrived within the last 100 years.
Obstacles: In general, Hui Muslims are content with their Sunni Islam. They need to be dissatisfied with a religion of works-righteousness that lacks a Savior who can forgive sins.
How reach: Chinese believers can make friends with the Hui Muslims in Hong Kong, and share stories of Jesus Christ, one whom Muslims already regard as a sinless prophet. Eventually they can win them to the Savior and disciple them in His ways.
Pray for church: Pray that the few Hui people who follow Christ will live with the fruit of the Holy Spirit in their lives in such a way that their Muslim neighbors will take notice and want the same spiritual blessings.

Summary: Malay people live throughout southeastern Asia but the majority live in Malaysia. The dispersal of Malay people was in progress by the fifth century A.D., when they began to dominate local trade in southeastern Asia and long distance trade between northwestern India and southern China. At that time, some migrated to Hong Kong.
Obstacles: The strongest characteristic of Malay identity that remains consistent regardless of their location is their adherence to the Islamic religion.
How reach: Courtesy is a very important aspect of Malay society no matter where they live. Most of their groups are loosely structured, their commitments are not strong, and loyalty to a group is not as important as being courteous. Those who take Christ to them must remember and act upon this virtue.
Pray for church: Pray that true Bible believing and teaching churches will be planted by Spirit-filled believers who are not afraid to lay down their lives for these people for whom Christ laid down his life.
